In 2018, Flags for Fort Snelling raised enough funds to purchase 200,000 disposable flags. Tens of thousands of flags are lost to damage each year simply because these flags were not meant for this sort of long-term use.

In 2020, we launched a multi-year fundraising campaign for The Legacy Flag, a new sustainable and retractable flag staff. Made of durable plastic, this innovative design protects the flag within an outer shell, significantly extending its lifespan to potentially decades. This will result in substantial cost savings and environmental benefits. While we work towards this long-term goal, we continue to fundraise for our current wooden-staffed flags and ongoing operational expenses.
